O1NE at Trademark Charlotte

Trademark Charlotte is one of the best locations for you to have an upscale, urban home in our city. Located at 333 W. Trade St, with Charlotte condo residences priced from $200K to 700K, this popular spot is going to become more lively thanks to the retail space on the first floor.

The most recent store, O1NE, is due to open its doors to the public this week.   O1NE is a Skate and Snowboard boutique! Charlotte’s a pretty active city, and now we have an opportunity to buy the best
equipment for having the most fun!

Now, this is not without some controversy. Word has it that there are some concerns in the community about this store – chiefly that the clientele may practice tricks on the outdoor sculptures around the building. But here’s our idea about that – Charlotte has several skate parks - Methodist Home, Grayson Park, and Extremes. These are well suited for all the stunts and tricks that serious skateboard enthusiasts will want to try.  Meantime, you’ve got another great store with quality merchandise in the area.

If you live at Trademark, you are blocks away from a Harris Teeter grocery store, four blocks from Bank of America Stadium, and five blocks from the Charlotte Bobcat’s arena. Chances are that you are no stranger to having good times and fun with sports and games.

On the seventh floor of Trademark, you have a 12,000 square foot terrace with heated pool, dog friendly area, exercise room, and a community room with a 42 inch plasma TV. Your Charlotte condo home has 10 foot ceilings, private balconies, and high quality finishes, including hardwood floors and granite countertops.

Uptown in Charlotte’s 3rd ward, you have no shortage of fun in the neighborhood surrounding the Trademark. And now you have a fun new store to go with this active, exciting neighborhood.

North Carolina – Healthy for Small Businesses!

By Michael Cook 10 02 2009

We have another reason to be proud of Charlotte, and enjoy the growth our city has experienced even during the recent economic downturn. Bizjournals has ranked Charlotte number 2 in small business vitality. We are topped only by Raleigh, NC. Now what does that tell you about this region?

It says that unlike major cities that have overbuilt and topped out the housing market during the boom, Charlotte has seen sustained growth in population and business opportunities. That translates into construction, housing, education, and a better quality of life for all residents.

And it means that in a  climate that is friendly to small business and entrepreneurs, we’ll continue to attract bright, innovative people who will continue to build businesses, create jobs, and increase the prosperity of our way of life.

Small business was defined by Bizjournals as being a private-sector employer with 99 or fewer employees. Charlotte consistently showed growth in population, the number of new small businesses, and a 15.4 percent job growth between 2002 and 2007.

We are affected by all the economic woes that have beset the United States in recent years – but we are in a better position to withstand any recession and recover quicker than other areas of the country. We are not losing jobs, we are not losing population.  Charlotte is still attracting growth. That translates into sales of real estate, houses and condominiums.

With the current stimulus before Congress set to include a credit of up to $15,000 for first time home buyers, low interest rates, and a variety of choices in Charlotte Condominiums, this is a great time to invest in Charlotte as a home and a workplace. The living here is very good – and so are the prospects for employment and entrepreneurial growth.

By Michael Cook 28 01 2009

Did you know that this is Charlotte Restaurant Week? Yes, it’s time again for the Queen’s Feast – your chance to dine like royalty at Charlotte’s finest restaurants.  This is a great opportunity for you to try many of Charlotte’s diverse cuisines, and enjoy a sumptuous three course meal for $30 prix fixe.  Many restaurants are adding to this promotion, and some are extending it.

If you go to Blue Restaurant and Bar in the Hearst Tower on 5th and College, you’ll find that they are extending the Restaurant Week promotion until February 7.  While you are there, take a look at the monthly classes they are offering with Executive Chef Gene Briggs.  Visit their online newsletter for details.

Sullivan’s Steakhouse is a popular spot for dinner, jazz, and family style atmosphere.  The restaurant week promotion is a chance to enjoy a full three course meal for the price of an entrée (or just a bit more).  They’re on South Boulevard, just down from the intersection with East Boulevard.

In a mood for seafood?  Try Upstream, which is regarded by many as one of Charlotte’s best and most popular restaurants.  They are located at 6902 Phillips Place Court.

These are just a few of the really great restaurants citywide in Charlotte that are participating in the Restaurant Week Promotion.  Reservations are recommended.

Charlotte’s “Band of Gold” Marches in Washington Inaugural Parade

By Michael Cook 22 01 2009

Wow!  Check out this video of Harding University High School Marching Band in the Inaugural Parade! That “Band of Gold” is SOLID GOLD.  Charlotte is so proud of them.

If that doesn’t make you proud here in Charlotte, nothing will.  The “Band of Gold” was the only marching band from North Carolina to be in the parade.

They passed the reviewing stand around 6:20 pm – only shown for a few seconds on nationwide TV.  But local media got  a better shot of the whole band – and how sharp they looked – at this pivotal moment in American history.

Playing in the cold was a challenge – the weather was bitter, and the cold weather affects the horns.  But playing for the President made it all worthwhile.

The band raised $75000 in the past MONTH to pay for the cost of the trip.  Money went to transportation, hotel rooms, and repairing uniforms.  But consider that 1400 bands applied for the honor and only 200 were invited – well, that got everyone busy!!!  They auctioned a football autographed by Steve Smith of the Panthers at a fundraiser at the Excelsior club.  They stood on street corners collecting money in buckets.  They performed at halftime at Bank of America Stadium during the playoff game against Arizona and paraded in uptown Charlotte the night before.  What an awesome job – and a credit to our wonderful city of Charlotte.

NoDa 18: The Artsy Side of Charlotte

By Michael Cook 20 01 2009

Charlotte has an artsy side to it, which rivals the gallery areas of major cities.  And it’s fun! The NoDa area, at North Davidson and 36th street is Charlotte’s answer to New York City’s SoHo.  Every first and third Friday, the area hosts Gallery Crawl. The art galleries are open from 6:00 to 9:30 PM.  Late openings make it possible for residents to enjoy a leisurely Friday night, strolling through the galleries and shops, taking a meal at one of the many fine restaurants, enjoying a nightcap at local bars, and finding surprises from the street theater that accompanies this regular event.  Street musicians, belly dancers, fortune tellers, even fire dancing are some of the things you will see on any given night.

In the heart of this popular neighborhood is NoDa 18.   These townhouses are popular, and only three are left!  With a blast of window space, high ceilings, and open floor plans, these Charlotte condominiums are a desirable residence priced from $200K to $400K.  A modern style, roomy, and well designed, these townhomes and lofts have a comfortable, upbeat feeling to them, and place you at the heart of a truly dynamic part of Charlotte.

Be a part of the NoDa/Plaza Midwood/Uptown triangle – an exciting neighborhood which continues to attract the stylish and successful people.

Charlotte Comes Alive for Historical Weekend

By Michael Cook 18 01 2009

This weekend promises to be an exciting one throughout the country, with Martin Luther King Day set for Monday, and the inauguration of President Barack Obama on Tuesday.  There are loads of events planned for Charlotte, including a free community celebration with the Charlotte Symphony at Belk Theater, Blumenthal Performing Arts Center and the City of Charlotte Martin Luther King National Holiday celebration at Spirit Square McGlohon Theatre.  These events are free, and highly recommended.

There is good news for students in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools.  Some students plan to use the long weekend to travel to attend the inauguration in Washington.  Exams had been scheduled for that day – but now exams are cancelled for Tuesday, and any student who is absent to attend the inauguration will not be penalized.  4 high schools have groups going – Harding, Independence, Providence and West Charlotte, and a larger number of teachers than usual have requested substitutes for Tuesday.  Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools will be open, but the only exams scheduled are makeups.

While you are in the vicinity of the parade route along S. Tryon, take a look at the new condo developments at 230 South Tryon and 300 South Tryon.  These are new Charlotte condos that are luxurious new construction.  Want to have a look?  Get in touch with us!

Charlotte is such a dynamic place to live, work, and play, and we are proud to be a part of the continued development and pulse of this beautiful place.
